Proudly Serving Axminster for Over 25 Years

Committed to Community, Wellness, and Water Since 1998

Flamingo Community Pool has proudly served Axminster and surrounding areas for over 26 years. We welcome more than 40,000 visitors each year and are fully equipped to support swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Our facility includes a 25-metre main pool and a one-of-a-kind hydrotherapy pool — the only public one of its kind within a 27-mile radius. Maintained at a therapeutic 34°C, the hydro pool helps reduce inflammation, ease tension, and promote recovery.

From public swims and family fun to physio-led rehab and inclusive classes, we’re here to support everyone who walks through our doors — promoting physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connection.

Built By the Community, For the Community

Our journey began in the late 1980s, when the people of Axminster came together with a shared dream: to build a swimming pool for the town.

After East Devon District Council declined ownership, the community stepped up — raising funds, organising events, and applying for grants to make it happen.

In 1996, their efforts paid off: £1.2 million from the National Lottery, £500,000 from East Devon, and £300,000 raised locally. On 12th September 1998, Flamingo Community Pool officially opened its doors.

We’ve been a proud, self-funded community charity ever since — relying on local support, grants, and fundraising. In 26 years, we’ve only made a profit once, showing how every penny goes back into the pool and the people it serves.

Thanks to your continued support, we’re committed to keeping this accessible facility open for generations to come.
