What are the dimensions of the pools?
The main pool is 25m long and 10.5m wide (5 lanes). The shallow end measures 1m in depth and the deep end measures 2m. The hydrotherapy pool measures 6 X 5.7m and is 1.11m at its shallowest and 1.27 at its deepest.
What is the temperature of the pools?
The average temperature of the main pool is 29°. For most local pools it is 28°. The temperature of the hydrotherapy Pool is 34°
How long do I get to swim?
Normally there is no limit but, during busy periods we may restrict you to an hour. Flamingo Island Fun Sessions are classed as a separate session so swimming is restricted to an hour.
I hear the pools are chlorine free ?
Nearly, both pools are disenfected by Ultra-Violet (UV) light – the level of chlorine in the pools is approx a third of a normally disenfected pool.
Is the pool part of the Axe Valley Community College?
No, the pool is operated by a charitable trust and although the college are allowed some access to the centre it is very much designed for community use.
Do I need to pay more to use the hydrotherapy pool?
No, the cost is the same as a normal swim in the main pool.
